Hi Emily, tell us something about yourself.
I’m Emily, just turned 24. I’m a nature lover, traveller and movie geek from the U.K.
Why did you choose analog photography?
I was introduced to analogue photography when I went to college in 2013 to study Photography and Digital Media, my dad gave me his old Canon to study with and I haven’t gone back since.
What do you like to photograph?
I love walking my dog and bringing my camera along to capture whatever I see on my way, trees changing colour or my dog just being her silly self.
Which cameras and films do you use?
I haven’t stopped using my dad’s Canon AE-1 and I did use my (now broken) Zenit-B which I loved. My go-to, easy to buy film is the Lomography 400 colour film and the Kodak ColourPlus 200. When I’m not shooting colour I continue to use Ilford XP2 Super.
What kind of picture would you like to take?
I am trying to improve on my self portraits and shoot less nature from around my garden. My main subject will always be my dog though.
Do you have a favorite photographer?
Rona Keller was the reason I wanted to study photography and started shooting self portraits. Paeulini is also a big inspiration for my portraits and confidence infront of the camera.
A photo should…
Never be shot to please other people, it should always be shot for you to express and find yourself.
